Following is a summary of council actions taken at the October 2 regular legislative session and the October 16 and 19 special legislative sessions. Absences, abstentions and opposing votes are noted.

Regular Legislative Session October 2, 2000

(CMs Tiberio and Gross absent)

1. Approved request for 6-foot fence at 5508 Taylor Road (Ward 3).

2. Approved request for 6-foot fence at 5502 Taylor Road (Ward 3).

3. Approved award of engineering services contract to Gilford & Chase for Community Development Block Grant (CDBG), Project Year 26.

4. Approved award for contracting services for five street projects to VMP Contractors.

5. Approved amount of $2750 for relamination of council meeting table.

6. Approved purchase of eight Police Department vehicles under condition that payments would begin in the 2001-02 budget year.

7. Approved date of Tuesday, October 31, from 6:00-8:00 p.m. as Trick or Treat night.

8. Approved resolution in support of application for Preservation Maryland grant funding to seek a National Register Historic District nomination for a designated area in the town.

9. Introduced Pension Plan legislation establishing investment procedures.

Special Legislative Session October 16, 2000

1. Approved purchase of conference room table and chairs funded by donation of $5,000 from Woman's Club.

2. Approved purchase of meeting table chairs for Mayor, Council, and staff.

Special Legislative Session October 19, 2000

1. Approved request for validation of existing conditions, before the Board of Zoning Appeals, at 4909 Riverdale Road (Ward 3).
