Spring Clean-Up Day

Riverdale Park's Spring Clean-up day will be Monday, May 20, 2002. We will not be collecting any metal items on this day. If they are put out, we will not get them until later in the week. ***This will be the LAST OPPORTUNITY to DISPOSE OF TIRES FOR FREE.***

PW Schedule Changes

Please pull out the page with the color map and keep for future reference. This page explains the changes in garbage collection, yard waste collection, bulk trash collection and metal collection. The reverse side of this page explains the refuse collection restrictions.

Some services have been added. Items that we were not picking up before we can now pick up for a small fee. Bulk trash is explained and fees are listed.

Holiday Pick Up

Monday, May 27, 2002, Public Works will be closed. Garbage pick up for the whole Town will be on Tuesday, May 28, 2002. There will be no yard waste collection at all that week.

Construction & Demolition Debris

We have received notice from the County that the landfill will no longer take any materials that come from the construction or remodeling of homes or buildings. These items include: drywall, toilets, tubs, sinks, plumbing, 2x4s, concrete, windows, and doors. Please do not put these items out for pickup and please do not bring to the Public Works Dept. on Saturdays. Make sure if any contractor does work to your home or property, the contract should include removing any of this debris.

Free to a Good Home

Untreated mulch is now available free to Riverdale Park residents. The mulch is located at the circle at the end of Queensbury Road by the Riverdale Park Public Works building. Help yourself to as much as you can use.

Smartleaf is also available from the City of College Park for a fee. Call 301-474-3033 for information.

Tree Limbs

We will pick up tree limbs that are up to 6 inches diameter and up to 5 feet long. These need to be bundled and/or put in a container. The landfill will no longer accept these items. We have found a vendor who will take them for half the price of the landfill and will then compost them. This allows the town to save money and recycle at the same time.

Tree limbs are collected as yard waste. Yard waste is leaves, weeds, grass cuttings, and anything biodegradable from your yard. Please do not mix trash and yard waste together.

Recycled Oil Tank

The recycled oil tank is a service for residents to recycle their used motor oil. Please do not put anything other than used motor oil in this tank.

Recycle-Recycle-Recycle

The county charges a fee for your recycling whether you recycle or not. So please join the program. The more the residents get out of the waste stream and into recycling, the more money residents save.

Recycling Buckets

Recycling bucket replacements can be obtained free from Prince George's County Offiec of Recycling at 301-952-7630.

Plastic Bags
For Sale

The town office is selling heavy-gauge clear plastic bags for $2.50 for a roll of 25 bags. Placing yard waste in clear bags will save time as our collectors can immediately identify yard waste from other trash. Recycling bucket replacements can be obtained free from Prince George's County Office of Recycling at 301-952-7630.
