Senator Paul Sarbanes Visits Route One Corridor |

On July 7, Senator Paul Sarbanes came to Mount Rainier to begin an all-day tour of the towns and cities which form the Route One Corridor. The corridor towns and cities also form the nucleus of the Anacostia Trails Heritage Area under a state of Maryland program to encourage economic development through tourism. The goal of hosting Sen. Sarbanes on this tour was to encourage his assistance under federal funding to revitalize this older area of Prince George's County located so near to the concentration of tourists who come to the Nation's Capital each year. An afternoon stop at the Calvert House Inn presented an opportunity for the senator to be welcomed by town officials and to be introduced to members of the Riverdale Business Association.
